Argyll Hotel

The Argyll Hotel, Kintyre

A dog friendly, beach side hotel

How to get to the Argyll Hotel, Kintyre, Scotland

The hotel is on the main Kintyre peninsula road the A83. We are about 2 1/2 hours from Glasgow and 3 1/2 from Edinburgh by car. Visitors from the west of Scotland and England can now reach Kintyre by ferry on the new Adrossan to Campbeltown crossing. Alternatively you can fly into Kintyre’s Machrihanish airport from Glasgow in just half an hour. Ideal for a weekend break.

Visitors from Northern Ireland (our near neighbour) can use the small express passenger ferry. From the north we are only just over an hour away from Oban and less from Inveraray and Lochgilphead. There is a regular bus service from Oban (change at Inveraray) and direct from Glasgow that stops right outside the hotel.

The A83 is an incredibly scenic route in Scotland, travelling from the grandeur of Loch Lomond over the high Arrochar Alps via the ‘Rest and be Thankful’ and then alongside picturesque lochs, reaching the Atlantic Ocean as it runs down the Kintyre peninsular. With the hotel being motorbike friendly its a great route to travel. It is also amazing by car too!

It is a peninsula well worth a visit, with its own island feel, despite still being part of the mainland. However, if you are island hopping in Scotland and heading for Islay and Jura then the Argyll Hotel is a great stopping off point. Less than 30 minutes from the ferry terminal at Kennacraig. And you can sit by the hotel beach looking across to your destination!
